For over 16 years, Ms. Essex has devoted her life and career to equipping people with the skills to improve their quality of life. In the fall of 1994, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Liberal Arts from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formerly known as the University of Southwestern Louisiana) where she majored in Psychology and minored in Business Management. She continued her education at Southern University at New Orleans School of Social Work. She earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, concentrating in mental health and direct services.
Yanada became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in September of 2002. She obtained the most respected social work credential, Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) in 2006. She also became a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor in 2009 (through the Louisiana Board of Social Work Examiners). Yanada has worked in the following areas in the social service field: substance abuse, health care, case management, and mental health (in both outpatient and inpatient treatment). Her treatment applications include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and Belief Therapy (through the Therapon Institute). In addition, she has been a proud member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) since 1997.
